For the John Deere collector no series of books is any more sought after than "The Operation, Care and Repair of Farm Machinery" published by John Deere between 1927 and 1957. The story is a John Deere executive was visiting his home town in 1926 and found a local school teacher using John Deere literature to explain construction and design of farm equipment. John Deere's response was to create "The Operation, Care and Repair of Farm Machinery" series and offered editions free to teachers across the country.
